Remembering Rick Rescorla
Rick Rescorla was born in the United Kingdom and was a retired United States Army officer. At the time of the 9/11 bombings, he was the director of security for the financial services firm Morgan Stanley, which had one of its main officies in the World Trade Center.
I chose to write about Rick Rescorla because as the director of security, he both anticipated and implemented procedures against the attacks on the towers. Due to this, he is credited for saving many lives. He perished at the age of 62 in the South Tower while leading evacuees to safety.
The most important thing that I learned from Rescorla's story is that being smart and knowing what you are doing actually matters. His passion and love for his job made it so that he was very good which is why he was able to do what he did. I will try to apply this to my life by being passionate in whatever career I chose and to always try my hardest in whatever it is I am doing. His bravery and intelligence saved hundreds of lives and may he never be forgotten.

He sounds like he was a true hero.
ReplyDeleteinspiring story it's good to know that even in such a scary situation there are those still who will risk it all to save others.
ReplyDeleteIt is always good to know that there are still people who are willing to put their life on the line to save others.
ReplyDeleteA hero and great role model
ReplyDeleteIts good that he was there to implement those plans he had made as a director but it is a shame that he couldn't get himself out before it was too late.
ReplyDeleteHe is truly someone that should be remembered because in this time of chaos he was level headed. Also instead of putting his own life first he put the lives of others in front of his. He must have known what would have happened to him, but he put that aside and i honor him for that.
