Leonard Joseph Snyder Jr. was a 34 year old vice president of special risks at Aon Consultants on the 101st floor of 2 World Trade Center. He was a risk-management insurer that had no problem with taking risks, a man who loved to ski, fish, and hunt. He was also a great family man. He was a beloved husband and great father to twin boys and a girl. His wife remembers the night before the attacks he had read his children five different fairy tales until they had fallen asleep. It was a task that she had typically done, but for some reason, that night, he had wanted to do it. His hobbies included golfing a restoring his 1965 Ford Mustang. I feel like it is important to cherish what you have while you have it as he did. He obviously loved his family and was passionate about the things he enjoyed doing. It is no small undertaking in the restoration of an automobile, it takes patience and great admiration for the vehicle; just as it is no small undertaking to raise a family. I take from his story that any minute you have could be your last, so live and love and don't ever think your actions are too small.

It must have been especially saddening that he had read his children fairy tales the night before the attack, to know that it was for the last time.
ReplyDeleteI found some similar trends in a lot of the victim's stories. If you truly live like any moment could be your last, you can achieve a different, much higher view of life and I think that is really cool.
ReplyDeleteIt is bittersweet to hear that most of theses victims had loving families, both because they had the joy of a family while they were living, but the hard part obviously is that they had to experience hardship.
