Richard Allen was New York City firefighter who lost his life on September 11th, 2001 when trying to save lives after the twin towers were attacked. He was always known to have a passion for helping others. For many years, Richard Allen was a lifeguard and in the winters, he would teach at New York schools. I can relate to this because I, too, was a lifeguard. It can be a lot of work sometimes and to be passionate about helping others makes you that much better as a lifeguard. I also want to be an educator when I grow up. Most of the jobs that Richard Allen had all required and focused on helping others. Anyone who knew him would say that he loved helping and saving people. Allen was also very religious and passionate. He was very well respected and people could always describe stories of how his positive attitude affected everyone. September 9th was Richards last day on the beach and he was with his family. They recalled his bright spirit and how enjoyable it was to be with him. I wish I could have somehow been able to meet him and experience the positive spirits he gave. He will always be remembered and loved by his friends and family and to all those that knew him.

I can only imagine what his family went through on that horrific day.
ReplyDeleteSounds like an amazing human being. He seemed like he truly just wanted to help others.
ReplyDeleteIt's sad to see people like him die, he was a true hero. A lot of firefighters die every day but its not the same because this was a terrible event.
