Remembering Todd Beamer

Todd Beamer known as the hero behind the retaking of flight 93, yet sadly that flight could not be landed. Todd Beamer will always be remembered as a loving husband, a great father, and a hero to those he led to the recapture of flight 93. As a memorial to her husband Todd Beamer's wife wrote a novel titled "Let's Roll" named after Todd's famous last words.

Todd was a father of three although he never got to meet his daughter as she was born 4 months after the events of 9/11. On sundays Todd and his wife would teach a sunday school class in which their kids would also attend. Todd was also a huge fan and a talented player of the revered American sport Baseball. Todd played college ball at Fresno State University and he would play ball with his two sons very frequently. Unfortunately Todd's job required him to travel by air quite often meaning he couldn't spend as much time with his kids as much as he wanted to. I can only imagine the pain of losing a father at the young ages of 2 and 4, yet through us Todd continues to live on through the passing of his heroic story.

From this story of bravery I learned that even normal every day people can perform extraordinary accomplishments. What I can apply to my life is that one act of bravery can inspire millions and I should never be afraid to act upon what is right such as Todd did and his actions inspired many soldiers. Many soldiers even took it upon themselves to use Todd's last few words as a battle cry throughout the conflict in the middle east "Let's Roll".

  1. I feel bad for his children especially the youngest because he didn't get the chance to see them grow and mature through the years.

  2. Hey as you probably remember Todd is who I did my Informative Speech over in our speech class. He is truly I great man. As his wife said in her book, he was among ordinary men, who did an extraordinary thing that day on Flight 93. It is a sad story that he did not get to meet his third child but amazing how his story has impacted so many people.

  3. He seems like such a good person. It so sad that he didn't get to meet his child. I have heard those last words "Let's Roll" before but did not think about the person behind them.
