How I learn best

I learn best as a visual learner.  When I can physically see/ read and understand it I can compare it to other things I have learned in the past.  A time I feel I truly understood something well would be when my sophomore principles of Engineering teacher had taught me the concept of mechanical advantage by bringing a gear train to show how if you start at a small gear and go to a larger one it is more torque, and from large gear to small increase speed of rotation.  I can remember the gear train so when I have to use mechanical advantage for anything I know what to do without hesitation.
The purpose of getting an education is the impact on society, if I am to make an impact on the world I hope it is something good and helps further our world in any way to become a better place.  Without education a lot more things tend to be based off of emotion rather than facts.
Education means to me the dream job that I would love to have, working as an engineer for a motorcycle company designing better engines.  I am optimistic about my future because I believe things are in my favor.

  1. Education means the same to me too! If you want a job that needs a degree education has to mean that for you. I think its awesome that you want to be an engineer and I think that's a job that will always be around so you are making a really good investment by getting an education in this field!

  2. I also learn best through visual representation, and I figured through all of this that most engineers also learn that way. I don't know if its just our mindset but its what works for us so that great that you learned how to study before college because that one of college students biggest problems is not knowing how they learn.

  3. I also am a visual learner or even learning hands-on. That's cool you took POE in high school, I took that class at Hilliard Davidson.
