Exploration 3: Juan Schwartzman

I learn best by writing down what I need to know and reviewing my notes later; I can't seem to remember things otherwise. I'm kind of a perfectionist about my note-taking, but I feel like it's bettered me as a student overall, because the speed at which I write has gone up over the years. I want to pursue an education mostly because it's an opportunity that wouldn't have been afforded to me as well back home (in Argentina), so it's my goal to take advantage of any and all opportunities offered here in America, that would be of considerably lesser quality over there. I feel like an education is what people need to help refine the innate cognitive skills that they already have, as well as expose them to new ideas and styles of thinking. Really, an education should serve to broaden our horizons and to get us thinking through new perspectives that will help us better understand and sympathize with our fellow man. I'm planning on pursuing a career in Industrial-Organizational Psychology for exactly those reasons.

  1. I agree with your method of note-taking because what's the point of taking notes if you can't re-read it and learn from it later? I agree with what you said about Argentina, because the reason my parents moved here is to give a better opportunity than what we would have had in the Philippines.

  2. I also learn well by writing down what I need to remember. I think its got something with me seeing it and writing it at the same time that helps me learn really well. Also this way I know what is important to study.

  3. That's really neat that you want to pursue a career in that! That would broaden your horizons. I feel like A lot of people take education for granted and we are all lucky to be able to have opportunities to use it.
