Seperation

"Okie? What's that?" The chapter continues off at the Joads and Wilsons stopping at a river because they need to get rest before crossing the desert. While on their stay, they meet a couple of men who have been to California and are planning to return to their hometown. They have a conversation about their experience there and why they left. After cleaning themselves up in the river, Noah tells Tom that he's not going to continue traveling with them and that he plans on staying there. They also come to another incident where Sairy doesn't want to travel because she's not feeling okay. So the Joads end up traveling without them. They are on a tight schedule and have to leave soon because the police warned them that he would arrest them if they're not gone by morning.

After crossing the desert, they arrive at California. They see the vineyards and the flat valley. They stop at a gas station to check their tires and they find out that Grandma is dying. They talk about it and they decide that they should use all of the money they have left to give her a proper burial.

The difference between knowledge and wisdom is that knowledge is based off of actual facts like events that already happened or what the taste of a certain food is. A person can only gain wisdom through personal experience. That's why I think a person can find wisdom through their grandparents because they have been through the most.

  1. I also think that wisdom comes through personal experience and living life. I agree our grandparents have a lot of wisdom because they have lived through things that we never have experienced. I look up to my own grandparents and find myself seeking their opinion and help when it comes to making decisions in my life.

  2. I agree with you about wisdom. I've found that a lot of my wisdom has been passed down from my grandfather. Nice post!
