Ingnored Warnings

"They aint nothin' left.", says the man and they bow when trying to warn the joads about what is upcoming in California. When the Joads ignore the father and sons warning about nothing happening in California. Rather than accepting this, they want to learn their fate and keep pressing on. Unfortunately, things keep getting worse for the Joads. First, Noah insists that he will be better off  staying at the river, and fishing for himself. His reason for this is that his mother and father have been nice to him, but they really don't love him that much, if at all. Tom tries to plead with him and insists that its not true and they do love him, but Noah ends up running away.
The second thing that struck me was when grandma died. The Joads were driving and they got stopped for a routine agricultural inspection, when Ma Joad pleaded with the Gard to let them go because grandma was in need of medical attention desperately.  When they arrived, ma told the rest of the family that grandma had died. She had layed in the back of the car with the body all night.
I think the difference between wisdom, and knowledge is a fine line but a big one at the same time. Knowledge is what you know, wisdom is what you've learned.

  1. Your title is an great way to think about the chapter, all the events that happened are probably signs to the Joads and and clues to us about what is to come later in the story.
