  1. I think Haley and Samantha's presentation was really good! The in depth detail of the information about the Empire State building was one of the things that made the presentation great. I learned A LOT about the Empire State building and I think the quote by Helen Keller was really cool. The only thing that i noticed that could've made the presentation a little bit better was to avoid saying "um" too much. Other than that, it was great!

  2. Haley- Good speaking style. It was clear and a little unformal, which is good in the setting we were in. You said 'and' quite a bit, but it didn't distact too much.

Samantha- Again, good speaking style. It wasn't too quiet but also wasn't grating on the ears. I heard a lot of ums in your presentation but that's something that's really hard to get rid of, so don't sweat it. You knew what the flow of the speech was and deliered it pretty confidently.

Presentation- A good presentation overall. I learned a lot of stuff about the building I had never known before. I really liked the backstory especially, since that's something that you can tie to the building whevener you look at it. I was kind of suprised that the building was privately funded. As far as things to work on, it could have helped to have some modern-day numbers on how well it's doing; income, how many work there, etc.

P.S. If you've seen Men in Black III, do you remember the part where Will Smith jumps off the building with the time travelind device and everything starts changing? He was jumping off a building that was constructed after the stock market crash, but there were businessmen jumping off of it, presumably during the stock market crash. Haha how could they have not known that?

  3. They were very well informed on the information and they did not hesitate on anything throughout the presentation. I would have liked the presentation better if there was a video of the building of the empire state building.

  4. I really like your presentation, it had a lot of interesting facts, but my favorite would have had to be the two quotes you had in the presentation. The Helen Keller quote showed the positive view on the tower, while F. Scott Fitzgerald's quote showed a negative view point. I was also fascinated by the fact of how fast they built the tower, and how no one died while it was being built. Your presentation was good, but you could work on eye contact, don't just skim over the room, focus on an area for a while and then move on.

  5. The presentation was very informational. I learned that nobody died from the building of the Empire State Building, and that it had cost so much even at a time of depression in America. I thought the visuals were helpful, even though a video or some media would be nice, although not necessarily needed. You guys should try to slow down a little bit, and cut out some of the information load, just a thought. But, overall, very good and interesting!

  6. I liked the presentation that you two gave. I thought that it was very informative, and id did not know that the Empire State Building was privately built! Thats incredible, especially for back then. One thing i think you two could have done a little better, is give some examples of struggles they went through while building it.

  7. I thought your presentation was very good, and seemed as though it was well rehearsed. The information that you presented was very fluent and cohesive. It was good how you not only talked about about the Empire State Building but about the idea that was behind it, and the opinion that people held of it.

  8. I liked the presentation because it contained a lot of interesting facts. It had a lot of good visuals too. My favorite part of the presentation was the two different quotes by F. Scott Fitzgerald and Helen Keller. They both had very opposite views and that's what caught my attention. I think this group did an overall good job with the presentation.

  9. I thought your presentation was well organized and contained a lot of interesting facts. Such as right after a vast majority of people lost their jobs, this very rich man with help of the governor created the largest building in the world. The building was privately funded, and deemed as unnecessary by many people of the time. Also I may have misheard but I wrote down it took a combined 70 million man hours, but only took $40 million to create it?

  10. I thought this presentation was okay. I lot of the facts I had mostly already knew, i was hoping to hear some information that was out of the norm, and something most people don't know. Other than that, great presentation.

  11. First off the quotes you used by both Helen keller and F. Scott Fitzgerald were amazing and summed up the bitter sweetness of the Empire Sate building. I did not know it was privately funded! i also didnt know that it was in a competiton with the chrysler building! Its good to know even in the abyss of the depression, competion, the bread and butter of Capatilism was still going on. The only thing i would change would be the wordy/long powerpoint slides, but other than that fantastic job!

  12. I enjoyed this presentation, there were a lot of interesting things about the empire state building that I never would have known. I thought it was good how they talked about it being privately funded. The only thing I thought could have been improved was expanding on the fact that not a single person died during construction.

  13. You both did a good job building off each other. I didnt think there would be much to talk about with a singular building, but you proved that wrong. During the presentation I kept gather questions to ask at the end but you answered them in the presentation so kudos to you both

  14. I was really surprised to read that F. Scott Fitzgerald quote in there, I'd never imagined that the ESB could be seen as anything other than an absolute symbol of joy and pride for New Yorkers, regardless of the era they lived in. Still, I liked the contrast it added.

  15. The fact that stood out the most to me was the quote by helen keller. I have actually been to the top of the empire state building so it was really interesting to hear her take on it without actually being able to see it. It was also really cool knowing what went into it being built and I actually didn't know it was built during the great depression. You both did really well presenting and I liked all the quotes.
