Exploration 8

2.)I see the future of the Joads staying in the lower, working class. The Joads are down a family member and down in the slumps as well. Although I like to believe in fairy tales, I don't think the Joads will ever get out of poverty. I also think the still born baby is symbol that the Joads will not escape the firm grasp of poverty in this generation. I do think the Joads will "tough it out", until they find a job that will keep the family's head above water. I think they will be living like Oakies for a while, due to the fact that it is still the depression. I think that Tom, being a strong individual, will most likely join the army and fight in WWII.
3.)We should remember the Joads because they are a story of survival and good morals. Their story is about how to survive when times make it seem impossible. That's exactly what its about though, survival, not living. This isn't a feel good story. This is a story depicting the harsh reality of capitalism. I think this story is here to remind us all that one day we will be short on cash and forced to do things that we dont think is right, for example the Joads leaving and heading west, abandoning their farm, their home. This is a story that tells us, one day we are going to have to suck it up and do what we need to do to survive.

  1. I can see the Joads surviving and having to to work for their lives, but i think that they will honestly just give up if they survive. They have already realized that all the corruption in the happens in the plantations and its assumed they done have the education to do something other then farming. So they will probably end up giving up , stealing, or dying off.
